Co Kilkenny trainer John Cahill was on the mark when his Promise Maker under Eddie O’Connell, got the better of For A Finish in a driving finish to win the Cullencastle Handicap Hurdle at Tramore this evening.
The son of Empire Maker moved to the front before the final flight before holding the challenge of For A Finish (whose rider Shay Barry lost an iron late on) by half a length.
The winner had previously been successful twice on the Flat in Britain while Cahill was not immediately available for a comment.
