As horse racing fans look ahead at what 2020 has to offer or maybe perhaps what it hasn’t offered, there is one racing event that could potentially stand out as one of the most exciting that we will be able to see this year.

The Prix De L’arc De Triomphe 2020 could be one of the next major sporting events with a live audience when the Coronavirus pandemic has settled. So, keep your eyes peeled and if you do not want to miss out on the best betting promotions once the races are back, then you should look at BettingOnline.co.uk, they ran several special promos on both the Cheltenham Festival and Virtual Grand National earlier this year.

To give you some background to the Prix De L’arc De Triomphe, it is one of the best turf races run across the globe. It starts on the first Sunday in October. Which is when it is scheduled for again this year and hopefully it will not be cancelled or delayed like other events including the Epsom Derby. Presuming all lockdowns have ended by October, then this will be the one to watch! Or even attend as the event takes place at the Longchamp Racecourse on the outskirts of Paris.

So now that we are aware that the event is scheduled to take place on October 4th, 2020, let’s take a look at the possible contenders. One thing to remember is that the final field won’t be determined until nearer the date of the race and the contenders could change as some horses may drop out and new ones emerge as the season progresses.

Prix De L’arc De Triomphe 2020 Potential Contenders

Enable is the likely favourite for this horse racing event. As it stands you can catch her at odds of around 5/1. The horse finished in 2nd place last year, behind Waldgeist who is not racing this time around which leaves Enable as the favourite. Enable was aiming for a third victory in the event, which would make history. In 2019 as they raced towards the finishing line it looked like Enable was going to do it, until the outsider Waldgeist came from 4th place and stormed his way to the line and won the race, something not many would have expected.

Now that we are aware of who the favourite is, we can look at the other possible contenders in this event. We have Logician, Japan, Sottsass, Victor Ludorum, Star Catcher and Contrail. These horses are also in that order for which is most likely to win the race according to the latest betting. The odds of each horse change on a regular basis and therefore it is important that you keep on top of this closer to the event.

Previous Winners

Let’s look back at some of the previous winners of this event and past performances. It is always interesting to recognise some of the great stars of the sport that have won this race.

Year Winner

2019 Waldgeist

2018 Enable

2017 Enable

2016 Found

2015 Golden Horn

2014 Treve

2013 Treve

2012 Solemia

2011 Danedream

2010 Workforce

2009 Sea the Stars

There are some very recognisable names on that list. You can also see that Treve won the event back to back, just like Ribot did in 1955/56. So, Enable really did have the chance to make history last year and having gone so close many will be hoping the decision to keep her in training for another crack at the big prize will pay off.

With French racing now back up and running behind closed doors and racing set to resume in both Ireland and Britain in June it is looking positive that the 2020 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe will take place as planned and we will have another vintage renewal to savour.
