Prendergast and McDonogh land first turf race of the season There was very few willing to dig deep into the pockets for the opening two-year-old maiden at the Curragh today, but those punters who stuck with the old reliable were rewarded as Kevin Prendergast got the turf season off to a winning start courtesy of King Ledley (4/1). Named after Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King, Dubai based owner Philip Lloyd would undoubtedly have been quite pleased with the efforts of his colt by Stormin Fever who had four-and-a-half lengths to spare from his nearest rival Chelsea Lately. Of the winner the Curragh based handler commented, "We always thought he was a nice horse, and the ground is just a bit tacky and we were slightly worried about that. "He was very professional about his work and he always went well and the Goffs Millions here later in the season will be his long term target."
