Popova sprang a 20/1 shock when sprinting clear to land the Killinan Maiden Hurdle for Henry de Bromhead and Darragh O'Keeffe.
The Ruler Of The World mare had ran twice in point-to-points, finishing fifth on her most recent start in April, and was easy to back on her 'track' debut.
She settled mid-division before taking closer order over the second last in the race, run over just shy of two miles.
The chestnut quickened up to lead before the final flight and showed a nice turn to foot to pull clear late on for a seven-and-a-half length win over Purse Price
"She probably hadn't shown us that at home but had a very good run in a point to point for Paul Power and we were riding her to run well and it unfolded for her, so I'm delighted,” said de Bromhead.
"She jumped great, Darragh gave her a super ride and I have nothing in mind for her at the moment.
"Ger Morrin, from Pier House Stud, recommended her in fairness to him and I'm delighted for David (Maughan, from Dublin) who owns her and that's his second winner with us."
Owner Maughan added:- "Myself and Henry picked her out at the sales and we liked her pedigree.
“She was by Ruler Of The World which wasn't overly fancied as a sire at the time so she was cheap enough and has paid us back now."
