Point to Point ace Arctic Times retired

Trainer Eugene O'Sullivan has retired his multiple point to point winner Arctic Times, following a knee injury sustained at the end of last season.

The 12yo, who has won 28 point to points and two hunter chases and was third in the Foxhunters Chase at Cheltenham this March, sustained a knee injury at the end of last season and the decision to retire the gelding was taken following the results of an x-ray which revealed an arthritic problem in the knee.

O'Sullivan stated "Arctic Times has been absolutely amazing for us and while we are very sorry to see him leave, he is perfectly sound at present. However, his legs are not able to sustain full training and the decision to retire him is the correst one. He left the yard today with a buck!"

Arctic Times' last run, at Dromahane in April, saw his owner Trevor Hemmings' son Philip partner the gelding to his first win.
