Takeachancejimmy a lively one in the early markets for the Bar One Racing Big Race Price Boost Handicap, delivered under Chris Hayes for the Nigel Slevin yard in the penultimate race at Dundalk.
Takeachancejimmy eventually went off a 10/1 shot after bigger prices had been availed of earlier, and he was well up to the task on his first outing since September.
The Art Connoisseur gelding was prominent and led after two furlongs.
Pushed along early in the straight, and ridden over a furlong out, Takeachancejimmy kept on well inside the final furlong to beat joint favourites Mulzaam and Ken's Sam's by three parts of a length and two and a half lengths.
"Connections were very confident," revealed Hayes in the aftermath.
"I was told even from the draw (14) to make plenty of use of him. They thought they had him straight enough.
"I went in then and had a chat with Oisin Orr and he said to me that if he doesn't blow up he'll win and he was spot on.
"It was a nice tidy little performance - I was impressed."
M.A. Gallagher, rider of Midnitemudcrabs trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung to the right under pressure in the closing stages.
