Jim Bolger's Plamas stayed on stoutly in the closing stages to make a winning debut in the opening maiden at Gowran Park this afternoon. Supernatural was the well backed 6/5 favourite (3/1 this morning) for the seven-furlong contest and bounced out to make the running.

She was claimed at the furlong pole by Plamas, however, and the Teofilo filly kept on strongly, under Kevin Manning, to register a two-and-a-half length success.

Torpedo Alley came through to claim the runner-up spot while Supernatural faded in the closing stages to finish fourth.

The winner is a half-sister to Whip Rule (listed placed) and to the dam of Leitir Mor (Gr.3 winner and Gr.1 placed).

“Kevin said it was hard to know how good she was after today as the ground was very deep,” said Bolger's travelling head lad Ger Flynn.

“She seems to have lots of natural ability though and got through it well. She ran straight and true.”
