Pipers Boreen brought up plenty of bets when landing the Tramore Promenade Beginners Steeplechase for Shane Nolan and Conor Stone-Walsh over an extended two-miles-five-furlongs. Beggars Rock threw down a stern challenge to Pipers Boreen racing to the last, but it all came down to the jumping and Pipers Boreen was noticeably better. She raced away on the short run-in to win by a length at 8/1 from the 13/2 runner-up. Easy-to-back Joueuse Royale (11/4 to 9/2) was six and a-half lengths away in third.

Nolan said: "We were a little bit worried about the ground. We walked it and thought it was safe enough for her to run anyway. We weren't sure that she'd be at her very best on it. The bit of experience helped her as well, she jumped super. She does want soft ground or we thought she wanted soft. Conor said it is riding soft enough, though.

"She has been around Tramore before and was unlucky when second here, she didn't get the run of the race.

"She's owned by Tom Birmingham, who has been really patient with her.

"We'll see how she comes out of this, we wouldn't be running her on summer ground. We might look to give her one more run or we might let her off. We had her entered over hurdles as well, it was depending on where we could get safe ground for her."
