The SBK Mares Handicap Hurdle saw a tremendous tussle between Pipers Boreen and No Fussing who went away from their rivals on the run to the last and had the third horse 25 lengths in their wake at the line.
No Fussing had gained a narrow advantage when taking off at the last but Pipers Boreen was quicker over it to seize the initiative. No Fussing battled back well to force a tight photo finish but it was Pipers Boreen, ridden by Conor McNamara, who prevailed by a short head.
The daughter of Westerner had finished runner-up on handicap debut at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day.
Winning trainer Shane Nolan said: “We were hopeful after the run the last day. To be fair her maiden runs weren’t bad, she’d always stay on well but was green and it’s taken a long time for the penny to drop.
“She showed a good attitude and is great to jump. The jump at the last probably sealed it for her.”
