Patrick does O'Brien and Daly a favour Richard O'Brien and Evan Daly are quickly making names for themselves in the training and riding ranks respectively, and they combined for a win when Patrick landed the honours in the Download The Award-Winning At The Races App Handicap at Dundalk. O'Brien sent out his first winner, at this venue last week, when Alans Pride did the business, and here Patrick (9/1) did the needful on his debut for the County Limerick-based operator. Soon tracking the leader, Patrick was in front over a furlong out and he went on to record a length and a quarter win over Geological. "I'm astonished to be honest. I haven't got him long and we just said we'd get him started," acknowledged O'Brien on the ex-Richard Fahey racer. He added: "He seemed to be a grand horse. I'm delighted and there is something for him in a couple of weeks time. If everything is well we'll come back. "I got him December 7th and just got him into the routine. This was the obvious place to start and on the face of it you'd say he's a well handicapped horse. "There is a €24,000 race in two weeks time and that would be grand for him. "It's lovely for Evan. One of the owners is very friendly with his dad and he gave him a lovely ride. It's great for the young lad and his 10lb proved very valuable. "A group of lads from Mullingar bought him and sent him to me so I'm very grateful to them. "He's a horse that should be fine on soft ground early in the season as well." (GC & EM)
