Trainer Liz Doyle and jockey Adrian Heskin have both been in winning form in recent times and the pair registered their third winners in a fortnight when Pairofbrowneyes landed the Fairyhouse Membership 2014 Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse today.
Heskin had teamed up with Doyle on Reality Dose which won at Naas on Saturday, and was again seen to good effect when steering hurdling newcomer Pairofbrowneyes to a hard fought success over the Ruby Walsh ridden Bless N'Ject, winning by a neck.
Afterwards Doyle stated “he's a half-brother to Master Of The Hall and is the most gorgeous horse.
“They didn't want to go point-to-pointing with him and was only four when we gave him a few runs over fences. He was fourth the last day in a good race and ran better than I thought he would and we decided to nip back over hurdles and look after his novice status.
“He's a big green baby and has a real national hunt pedigree; we'll look for a staying novice for him and will probably keep him to two-and-a-half miles.”
Regarding her promising hurdler Le Vent D'Antan (which made his comeback last weekend), Doyle added “the ulcers are hard to heal; they are stress induced and when you turn the screw they can stop eating so we decided to wait on him heeling first. He did well considering he was far too fresh and I was very pleased and hopefully he'll come on a lot from it.
I was delighted to get him back on the track. We'll get a better read on him the next day, which should be a couple of weeks time.”
