Back Of The Pack may have been the only mare in the seven runner line-up for the Grade 3 Dial-A-Bet 1800 721 821 European Breeders Fund Novice Steeplechase but she showed the geldings the way home with an impressive display under Michael Darcy at Cork. He was completing a double after an earlier win on Sabrina Harty's Silas Mariner
Back Of The Pack led from Turtle Gale six out and she attempted to assert from before the straight. Try as her rivals might up the straight they couldn't get to the bold-jumping daughter of Anshan. At the line the 12/1 shot had four and a half lengths to spare over Beau Michael
Colin Kidd said of the eight-year-old, now three from three over fences and winning her sixth race here: "Unbelievable, it's better she's gettin. Her jumping is unbelievable and I wouldn't be afraid to go anywhere with her now. That's her third win in over three weeks now so she has done plenty and we'll have to sit down tomorrow and make a plan.
"To train a graded winner in my 2nd year training is a dream come through. I have about 10 or 12 in at the moment."
Back Of The Pack was owned by the late Stewart Donald and she now races in the colours of a family syndicate (the Raheenwood Syndicate). Stewart's son Arthur was on hand to greet the mare with his wife Martina (nee O'Ryan) who won five All-Ireland titles with Waterford lady footballers. The couple also had their children with them to enjoy the occasion.
