John Oxx sent out a 1-2 in the mile and a half maiden as 12/1 chance Saddler's Rock stayed on gamely under pressure to overhaul better-fancied stablemate Red Calima
The son of Sadler's Wells led inside the final furlong under Ben Curtis to beat Red Calima (13/2) by three quarters of a length, with the one paced Enchanted Forest (5/1) another two and a half lengths away in third.
Oxx was represented by assistant Jimmy O'Neill, who said, “Obviously being by Sadler's Wells he appreciated that bit of ease in the ground. He's been running on firm ground, and the penny finally dropped today. He'll stay two miles and handicapping will be his game.”
