Owner's patience rewarded as Oscars Den wins again Owner Zorka Wentworth's patience with Oscars Den paid dividends at Navan again today as the Ted Walsh trained gelding landed the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle under jockey Michael Stenson. The now 11 year old was a smart novice hurdle recruit in 2013/14 when trained by Tim Vaughan but then missed almost three years through injury, prior to debuting for Walsh in March 2017. Oscars Den had gained his only previous win for Walsh at today's venue in November 2017 and today provided jockey Stenson with a third career win. Trainer Walsh, who regaled Attheraces viewers as guest on Friday night's Get In show, later said “his last two runs were good runs. He's only had 15 runs in his life as he's a hard old horse to keep right. “The owner has had great patience, she loves him, and gave him every chance to win another one. “It might be hard enough to win another one but sure he has that one won. “He's a gorgeous looking horse but he can't jump a fence, which is a pity but he can't.” Quotes from Gary Carson
