The Dundalk Democrat Handicap caused somewhat of a surprise when 25/1 shot Oversighted ran out a half length win in the hands of Willie Supple making it a 256/1 treble for the jockey.
Supple was soon in front on the daughter of Selkirk and the pair kicked on from over one furlong and kept on well to hold off the fast finishing Indian Wind by half a length.
Winning trainer Yvonne Dunleavy stated afterwards: “It’s great he won, he’s eight years of age and he’s a big pet at home.”
“We’ve been trying to get a race into him all year but because he’s so lowly rated it’s been hard to get him into a race. It’ll make the trip back to Galway this evening a bit shorter now.”
