Upper Silesian (Kevin Manning) gets up to deny Dance With Another and Joseph O'Brien© Photo Healy Racing
The maiden Upper Silesian outsider of the three participants at 6/1, upstaged her better touted rivals in the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Race at Ballinrobe.
Settled in by Kevin Manning, the Lawman filly looked a forlorn hope when the weakening Lanyard came 'back in her face' a bit over two furlongs out.
Joseph O'Brien was making the best of his way home at that stage on the 11/10 favourite Dance With Another and indeed that one reportedly hit the minimum in-running price on the betting exchanges.
However to the great credit of Jim Bolger's winner, she came home best to lead near the finish and score by half a length.
They left the aforementioned Lanyard seventeen lengths behind.
Manning commented: "She's highly enough rated and it was her first time up to that trip. I said I'd let them go on and she appreciated the distance."
P.J. Smullen, rider of Lanyard (USA), trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well but stopped quickly three furlongs out.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Lanyard (USA) trained by D. K. Weld was post race normal.
