Trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Davy Russell completed doubles at Fairyhouse today when Osco Mosco gained a deserved hurdles win in the Fairyhouse Membership 2018 Mares Maiden Hurdle.
The four year old filly has been kept busy since making her debut last June and was today claiming a second career win. In that five months spell, the daughter of Oscar has also filled the runner-up spot on seven times, four of which have been in maiden hurdles, from a career total of ten racecourse outings.
Elliott, earlier successful with the Jack Kennedy partnered Woods Well later commented “she’s (Osco Mosco) honest and she tries, and she deserved that. She makes it hard on herself the whole time but I’m delighted with that.”
Jockey Russell, himself an earlier winner on Henry De Bromhead’s Mind’s Eye, added “she is not a lot to look at and her work wouldn’t excite you and how Gordon has got her to run so consistent for so long, is a wonder to me.”
