Orr makes winning start as a professional jockey Seven pounds claimer Conor Orr made a winning start to his new career as a professional jockey as he steered Silver Star to win the opening Summer Party Pack Opportunity Maiden Hurdle at Kilbeggan today, for trainer Gordon Elliott. Orr, a brother of flat jockey Oisin Orr, moved Silver Star to dispute the lead at the second last flight. At that obstacle, fellow 7/4 joint-favourite Visioman blundered and on the run to the final flight, Silver Star got the better of that rival before eventually scoring a two and a half lengths winner. Elliott wasn't present and following the race jockey Orr said “that was my first ride as a pro; I rode a couple of winners as an amateur including one here for Andy Lynch so it’s been a good track for me. “I ride out for Gearoid O’Loughlin and also for Gordon one day a week.” Quotes from Alan Magee
