Orr bags first Stakes win as Weld completes treble Dermot Weld completed a treble at Leopardstown today as the trainer supplied apprentice jockey Oisin Orr with a first Stakes success in the featured Listed SPIN 1038 Heritage Stakes with Imaging. The son of Oasis Dream had previously won at Listed level at Naas last May and today made a winning reappearance when beating Zihba by half a length. Afterwards Weld, earlier successful in the opening two maidens, stated “he's a very consistent stakes horse and he'll head on for a Group race now. “The Gladness is a possibility for him, providing it doesn't come too soon. It's a long year ahead please God. “Every drop of rain helped him as he's a big horse and he likes a good dig. He can step all the way up into a Group horse without any problems.” Weld was fulsome in his praise for Orr and added “Oisin gave him a lovely ride and that's his first stakes winner. He's a former champion apprentice and he's a very talented young rider. People could say that he couldn't claim his 3lb here but I wasn't worried about that. He rides out for me a couple of days a week now.” Quotes from Gary Carson
