Ornua blazed the trail to run out a cosy winner of the beginners chase at Wexford this evening giving trainer Henry de Bromhead, who is currently away on his holidays, a double on the card.
Dylan Robinson bounced out in front in the two-miler, aboard the Mahler gelding, and the pair kicked a few lengths clear of the field before the fourth last. Roconga tried to give chase turning for home but Ornua had plenty up his sleeve and stayed on strongly in the closing stages. Cotton Jenny came through to take the runner-up spot but never looked like troubling the winner, who could afford to ease down for a four-and-a-half length win.
Ornua was making his second start over fences having been third on his chase debut at Killarney last month.
Robinson said afterwards: "He just keeps galloping and has plenty of pace as well. You just leave him bowl along and he jumps away all day, he is a super ride. He'll definitely win more races and he is a nice horse to have."
