The final event of this evening's card at Greenmount Park the Irish Daily Mirror Handicap over two miles was another contest to be decimated by withdrawls as the well fancied Jack Cool, Bobs Pride, Concrete And Clay and Chevalier Country were all taken out.
Those defections made the job all the easier for the 9/10 favourite (and the likely one in any case), Oneeightofamile as he made all to win easily under Pat Smullen by four lengths at the finish. End Of The Affair stayed on best of the rest to finish second under Sam James at 7/1 with the 11/4 second favourite No One Tells Me a further three and a half lengths back in third.
The winning son of Catcher In The Rye was recording his second success in a row having won a valuable handicap hurdle at the Punchestown Festival just last month.
Oneeightofamile was sent off the 9/4fav for this contest last year but he could only manage a disappointing sixth on that occasion.
Winning trainer John Kiely said afterwards: "He won well. I was hoping the ground wasn't too quick for him. He likes good ground.
"We will see what the handicapper does with him now. He will probably go for a handicap at the Curragh on Derby weekend."
