Edward O'Grady was on the mark at Tramore today when Flaming Dawn landed the Waterford & Tramore Supporters Club Maiden Hurdle, but the win was marked with some sadness following the death of the trainer's long serving assistant Tim Finn yesterday.
Flaming Dawn, under Paul Townend, readily registered a 15 lengths win over Ichey Feet and a clearly impressed O'Grady later stated “this horse likes hills and you never know what hill he might go up yet!
“He's quite a nice horse and is getting more professional; we'll find a winners' race for him somewhere now maybe at Clonmel. He's 17hh and is from the same family as Dawn Run.”
Tim Finn had worked with O'Grady for many years and his roll in the Gay Future affair featured in the film 'Murphy's Stroke'. Www.rip.ie, states “reposing at his residence this Thursday from 4pm with rosary at 8pm. Arriving at St. Mary's Church Killenaule on Friday morning at 11.15am for Funeral Mass at 11.30am.
Burial immediately afterwards in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Thurles. House private on Friday morning please.”
