Lisa O'Neill believes the best is yet to come with Riaan, after his impressive debut success over fences at Wexford on Friday.

A half-brother to prolific nine-time winner Ball D'Arc, the Gordon Elliott-trained six-year-old made the perfect start to his chasing career, beating 10 rivals with ease at Bettyville.

Speaking at Downpatrick on Sunday, Lisa O'Neill, Elliott's assistant, said: "He took to it like a duck to water, he was fantastic over the obstacles.

"Jack (Kennedy) got into a lovely rhythm on him and hopefully he has got a nice future ahead of him.

"I think he is going to be even better over the larger obstacles. Hopefully, he can progress and improve and, with that first run over fences under his belt, he is surely going to improve mentally as well for it."
