John O'Donoghue is looking forward to the upcoming flat season with the trainer intending to travel his horses in search of opportunities in the coming months.
Curragh-based O'Donoghue sent out his first runners in 2022 from retired trainer John Oxx's Currabeg yard and sent out Pearling Path to finish second in that year's Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.
O'Donoghue finished last year with nine Irish and one UK winner and last Friday got off the mark for the new season at Dundalk.
The trainer says “we have similar numbers to last year, we would sort of be 35 to 40. The main bulk of our horses are sort of backend yearlings, slower burners.
"We have a few six-figure yearlings for some good owners. Thankfully, the support is coming and we just need to bang in a few more winners.
"I'm walking my box (over the weather) - you think there is a let up and then there's a shower and a heavier shower. We even ran at Cork last week knowing that the Curragh is going to be no better this weekend. We just needed to get a few out, we knew they wouldn't handle the ground but we just needed to run.
"Irish Ferries might make a few quid out of O'Donoghue racing."
