The Richard O'Brien trained Marvelosa completed a quick double for apprentice Jack Kearney when quickening up nicely to justify short odds in the Hazel Wood Maiden at Sligo.

Despite having failed to get her head in front in ten previous starts, the daughter of Ribchester was sent off a well supported 5-6f to shed her maiden status.

Travelling easily for much of the contest, at one point in the straight it appeared as though the gaps may not open for the eventual winner but when they did, she had enough in reserve to take the chance.

Runner-up in a decent quality handicap over course and distance last time, the tight track clearly suits the O'Brien trained filly.

Jack Kearney, riding the second double of his career, said: "She travelled strongly throughout the race. I thought I was in a bit of bother turning in, I was kept tight, but luckily I'd the horse under me to get the gap. She took the gap and done it nicely and she'll appreciate stepping back up in trip."
