Sir Erec completed a double at the Curragh for Aidan and Donnacha O'Brien, as he justified favouritism in the Curragh Home Of Champions Maiden.
Fourth on his debut at Naas last November, the son of Camelot went down by just a short head on his return to action at Leopardstown in April.
Expected to go one place better this evening, he was sent off favourite at 11/8, and made virtually all.
He was pressed by market rival Jassaar (2/1) with two furlongs left to race, but responded well to pressure inside the final furlong, going on to see off that rival by half a length.
Declan McDonogh was aboard the runner-up for Dermot Weld, while 9/2 chance Would Be King was another five lengths back in third.
Aidan O’Brien said afterwards: "He kept going and galloping. He'll be a nice horse and will stay well too. We'll see what the handicapper does with him or he could go for a conditions race either.
"He's a horse that should progress. He's a fine big fella and should do well over a trip next year."
