After a false start they went at the second attempt in the Comeragh Wildlife Park Handicap Hurdle at Tramore, a race that eventually went the way of Dympnas Well for Paul Nolan and Sean O’Keeffe.
Connections and backers of Indevango will very likely feel aggrieved as his chance was seriously compromised when not getting away on terms. He eventually finished with just one behind.
Up front with a first time tongue-strap on Dympnas Well was strong from the last to beat locally-trained market-leader Doyouthinkso by half a length.
"The better ground and the tongue strap helped. She was getting stuck in winter ground and just didn't have the ability on it. Hopefully she will stay on the go over the summer, she is a big fine mare,” said Nolan.
"She is owned by Padraig Donohoe who is a great man and has been in the yard for years. He was very unlucky to lose a lovely mare (Earthiest Words) in Fairyhouse last season. She was a very, very good mare and was second to Minella Melody at Cork. This mare won't be the same level but it's great that she won."
Rachael Blackmore, rider of Eaton Lady trained by Miss Kate McGivern, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount ran keen early.
The Stewards requested a report from Paul Nolan, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Dympnas Well (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Paul Nolan reported that a combination of a first run in a tongue tie, better ground and a drop in trip bought about an improvement in his charges form today. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
