On his first outing since May Quamino (9s into 7s) made a winning start over fences in the Fairyhouse Membership 2019 Beginners Chase.
Bryan Cooper rode the big German-bred chestnut for Manverton Limited and Paul Nolan, and he impressed from on the pace in the two mile five furlong contest.
He got the last wrong alright, but that didn't stop the five-year-old as he kept up the gallop for a seven length success from joint favourite All's Quiet
Nolan was on the mark with a potentially sales bound, Shawshank, a promising type, at the Damma House point-to-point in Kilkenny on Sunday.
After Quamino's win he said: "We were walking the box with the other fellas pulling them out. I said 'when Jim (Coffey, part owner) comes now and we run and something happens him he'll say why did all the other trainers pull out and you didn't — did they know something that you don't'.
"I took the chance running him and he seemed to handle it well. He's a horse with a decent action so hopefully he'll be okay in the morning.
"The way he jumped he looked like he was certainly letting himself down on it because he was making two or three lengths at every fence, bar the last.
"With everything coming out it was an ordinary type of race but hopefully he'll find a level. We'll keep going with him now and hopefully he's okay after this.
On his current form:- "You'd love to have more. We were a bit unlucky with four or five seconds and thirds with horses in Wexford.
"It's a divil when you are struggling for winners when you have those seconds. But you can explain a second better than a second last.
"At the same time it's not a winner. I'd be happy enough and hopefully we've a few half nice ones in for the winter.
"If we can get competitive in a few nice races with two or three we'd be delighted."
P. Townend, rider of Cowboy Des Long (FR) trained by James Joseph Mangan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a bad mistake early on, never travelled as a result and pulled up.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Cowboy Des Long (FR), trained by James Joseph Mangan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
