Nike swoops to victory Nikeandnemesis swooped inside the final furlong to land the spoils in the mile nursery at Naas this evening. Willie McCreery's charge went to post a 16/1 having been well held on her four previous starts. She was tackling a mile for the first time having run over sprint trips previously. Nathan Crosse drove her into contention a furlong from home and she grabbed Calorific close home for a three-parts-of-a-length win. McCreery said:- “She’s owned by Barbara and Mark Dreeling who break a lot of horses for me, and the boys (Spout Syndicate) have her leased off them. They obviously wanted to win a race and breed from her. “Tommy and Jimmy Dignam from The Spout (pub) in Kilcullen were looking for a horse to lease and they have been nice and patient. “She still hasn’t got her ground as I think she will be a better filly on a bit of softer ground. She didn’t know what she was doing there for a long way but flew home. The trip suited her in fairness. “It’s great for Nathan to get a winner. He’s a very good lad and a great worker. I’m delighted for him and he gave her a great ride.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
