Newsworthy bounced back to form to claim the Breaffy House Resort Handicap Chase at Ballinrobe tonight.
The Dot Love-trained gelding was pulled up on his last outing at Punchestown last Wednesday but left that run behind to record his fourth career success.
Simon Cavanagh produced his mount to lead at the third last in the two-mile three contest and he asserted going to the final fence. Spancil Hill ran on well in the closing stages but could only get within a length-and-a-half of the 12/1 winner.
Cavanagh said: "I own him with my father Richard. We gave eight thousand for him and he's been great for us.
"He unseated early in the Topham and Jonathan Moore said the last day they just went too quick for him from the start at Punchestown."
Assistant trainer Ciaran Murphy said: "We'll find a little race for him in Kilbeggan and the Midlands National would be on our radar with him too."
