New York City made it two from two at the track this season when running out an impressive winner of the listed Committed Stakes at Navan.
Wayne Lordan always had the Aidan O'Brien trained colt to the fore and from a long way out it looked a straight fight between himself and eventual second Straight Answer
The latter looked to be travelling well coming out of the dip but once Lordan asked his mount for a bit extra the response was instant.
To his credit, Straight Answer fought back bravely but the winner had taken too much of a lead and the gap was never going to be bridged.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien said; Aidan O'Brien said: "He must have been a little bit babyish or something, but he is a big powerful horse now.
"We thought he would do plenty last year but he took until this year to win. He was very impressive again today.
"Wayne (Lordan) said he is still a bit babyish when he got there. That's what you like, he went again (when the second came to him).
"The plan will be to go to the Commonwealth (Cup) with him. Looking at him you would hope he would get six (furlongs)."
