Willie McCreery has high hopes for his two runners in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden at Navan today.
The County Kildare handler expects Devonshire and Trust Your Opinion to be in the shake-up in the six-furlong contest.
Both have shown promise, with Devonshire runner-up on her second start at Naas last month and Trust Your Opinion a respectable fifth on her second outing at Tipperary two weeks ago.
"We'd be hoping for a good run from Devonshire. Horses by Fast Company seem to like good ground so it should suit her and I think she'll improve for her last run," McCreery said.
"Trust Your Opinion probably needs a bit further. She's a good tough filly and I'll be expecting a big run from her as well."
Wayne Lordan takes the ride on Devonshire, with Seamie Heffernan booked for Trust Your Opinion, in an 11-runner field in which David Wachman saddles Fit For The Job and Dermot Weld is represented by Sir Raston
Fit For The Job is attempting to confirm the promise of his introductory effort.
Owned by JP McManus, the David Wachman-trained Lawman gelding, who cost 82,000 guineas as a yearling, showed up for a long way at the Curragh and stuck on well to claim third, looking a certain future winner in the process.
A seven-race Flat card sees the feature as the Follow Navan On Facebook Handicap.
Six have been declared for this contest over a mile and despite having to carry top weight the Ger Lyons-trained Burn The Boats is sure to prove popular.
This gelded son of Big Bad Bob won a valuable contest at the Curragh in June last year and while he has been a bit disappointing since, a much-improved performance can be expected from him now as he takes a drop in class and a step up in trip. Abushamah was not beaten far in the Ulster Derby on his last start and he looks a big danger, while Six Of Hearts should run his usual consistent race.
The Johnny Levins-trained Money Spider bids to complete a hat-trick of wins in the Come Racing 6th September Handicap.
The progressive daughter of Danehill Dancer won at Tipperary and Limerick in the space of a couple of days last month and despite having to carry 9st 12lb here she should go close. Zeftan won the Ladies Derby at the Curragh on her last start and looks to have solid claims while Juara and Shake The Bucket are others to consider.
Levins is represented by Miller Beach in the Navan Members Apprentice Handicap with Donagh O'Connor having his first ride aboard the son of Sakhee's Secret.
O'Connor has been well touted by Levins and it will be interesting to see how the young Wexford man gets on aboard this four-year-old gelding.
The consistent Pixie Spirit looks the most likely winner of this five-furlong contest while course and distance winner Above The Law has solid each-way claims. Lady Ranger Shinyhappyjohn and Tom Dooley appear the three to focus on in the Johnny Cash Tribute Show After Racing Handicap, while Teoleena should prove hard to beat in the opening contest on the card the Country & Western Evening Claiming Race.
The remaining contest is the Lynn Lodge Stud Maiden, where Hurricane Volta The Big Cat Next Bend and Hagler are the stand-out names.
