Midnight Soprano shortened up a little bit in morning trading on the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap at Navan but in the face of support for others the lightly-raced four-year-old was sent off a 25/1 chance. She defied that price under Marc Monaghan by outpointing Sun Disc and Make My Heart Sing by half a length and a neck.
Seven pound claimer Monaghan got Midnight Soprano to the front in the final fifty yards and she kept going well to prevail.
Paul Coyle, representing successful trainer, Paul Deegan, said: "She done the job well. Our only doubt about her was fitness. She had been working well at home though.
"We're happy with her and she handled the ground. She's a good actioned filly and she should be okay for Dundalk as well."
It was a particularly sweet success for the Monaghan family from Nenagh as Marc's father James is the owner and breeder of Midnight Soprano.
