Nasee proved an easy winner of division one of the two and three quarter miles Gormanlough Handicap Hurdle at Navan for Shane Fenlon and Shark Hanlon.

The Intello gelding joined Hanlon nearly two years ago having won on the Flat for Ed Vaughan but has been quite lightly-raced since.

He was reappearing after an 11-month absence at Limerick recently and obviously benefitted from that run as he took this 2m6f event with ease.

The six-year-old, who attracted some support this morning but drifted right out to 20/1 at the off, led soon after pecking on landing three out and took control from the next.

Fenelon could sit quietly as his mount stayed on strongly to score by six lengths from Rubiana

A stewards enquiry was called into possible interference not involving the winner after the runner-up edged left on the run-in hampering Only For Pascal and Callaghy Rose who dead-heated for third place. The places remained unaltered.

Hanlon said, "That was lovely. It mightn't have been much of a race but at least he won. He stayed galloping the whole way to the line and I was probably running him over the wrong trip the whole time. He has to have good ground.

“It's great for the owner who has had two winners inside a week so he's delighted.”
