Murray completes double in opening juvenile turf races Adrian Murray’s Westmeath yard today completed wins in Ireland’s opening two turf juvenile races, as Giselle De Aguiar’s Miami Destination (9/4f) landed the Curragh’s Shouldvebeenaring, New At The Irish National Stud Irish EBF Maiden, under Wayne Lordan. All eight runners were newcomers and there was drama beforehand as market-leader Joyful Tidings and outsider Smart Sioux bolted, with jockey Seamie Heffernan ejecting at speed from Smart Sioux, prior to both horses being withdrawn. In the race, Miami Destination raced professionally making the running, and while strongly pressed by runner-up Oh Cecelia inside the final furlong, rallied well to score by a neck. Murray’s Power Blue had won the opening turf maiden at today’s course 13 days ago and today stated “we knew going out that Miami Destination would have no bother going six or seven furlongs , further down the road. Wayne said she needed a bit of company, and she won well at the line. “The ground wouldn’t have been an issue for us and hopefully it’s upwards and onwards now. We’ll probably find a stakes race back here in May.” Quotes from Alan Magee
