Angel Palanas gained back-to-back wins for trainer Pat Murphy and jockey Luke McAteer today when notching a sixth career win in the Junction Handicap at Tipperary.

The son of Mayson's four initial wins were gained on the all-weather at Southwell when trained by Karl Burke but today the six year old followed up a Listowel win last month with a second grass win, by holding on for a three parts of a length win over South Forest

Murphy later indicated Angel Palanas could attempt his hat-trick for new connections, saying “I've no race in mind next but he might go to the sales.

“He has a great constitution, his wind is great and I think there are still more races to be won with him.”

Angel Planas carries the colours of Murphy's wife Diane, and the trainer added “I walked the course and I was concerned about him being able to handle it, as it is getting tacky. He did and also defied the 11lbs penalty for Listowel and we are delighted.

“Hopefully the handicapper won't be as hard on him this time.”
