Howryafeelin provided Clarinbridge, Co. Galway trainer Barry Murphy with his first Irish winner when recording a shock win in the Cashel Maiden Hurdle.
The two and three quarter miles event took plenty of getting on the testing ground, and it turned up a real surprise result with 33/1 chance Howryafeelin beating 25/1 shots Whatever Jacksays and Robbie Kaydee
Not many 12-year-old’s win a maiden hurdle but the son of Dr Massini, a former point-to-point winner, was having just his third run over flights.
Murphy was on the mark a couple of times in Britain, and Private Lives also proved a bookies friend when providing his last winner at odds of 22/1 in Ffos Las last June.
Brian Cawley, whose father Padraic owns the shock winner, sent the gelding to the front just after touching down two out and he kept on well to beat Whatever Jacksays by three and three quarter lengths.
The 8/13 favourite Mazuri Cowboy was a spent force from early in the straight and could only finish a soundly beaten fifth.
Murphy said, “He’s a grand horse. I thought he’d run a lot better the last day at Limerick but he scoped dirty. I’ve no real plans.”
