Mullins/Walsh have right Approach “Call the monopoly commission!” hailed Matt Chapman on At The Races after Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh continued their recent superb run of success with Apt Approach in the Glen Chase at Thurles. The eight-year-old Bob Back gelding was a surprisingly easy-to-back 11/10 favourite on his seasonal debut in this three miles conditions event, and Walsh elected to track the pace-setting pair of Ballinahow Lady and Baily View. A mistake at the second last gave favourite backers only slight concern before he joined the leading pair to make three in a line approaching the last. Apt Approach had just taken over the lead when Ballinahow Lady took a tired-looking fall at the last, and Walsh's mount kept on well to beat Baily View (14/1) by two lengths. The pair stretched a long way (34 lengths) clear of Carrigeen Lechuga in third. Mullins was full of praise for Walsh's ride afterwards saying, “He's a very hard horse to ride from behind but Ruby gave him a great ride.”
