Mullins puzzled after Cooldine return

Willie Mullins is unsure what to make of Cooldine's comeback run at Thurles last week.

Results have been mixed since the nine-year-old's brilliant performance in the 2009 RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and he was having his first start since last December in the John Meagher Memorial Chase.

He did everything right until emptying quickly after turning for home and was in the end a distant second behind Joncol.

"I don't know what to make of his run really," explained Mullins.

"He looked to be running great at the second-last. He was well in at the weights and running on a track he loves and having travelled well, I thought he would have finished better.

"Maybe it wasn't a bad run after a long time off, but I certainly wasn't delighted anyway.

"We'll just see how he improves at home before his next race, but I'd doubt he'll be going to Newbury for the Hennessy Gold Cup."
