Facile Vega is on course for the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day where he features among 11 entries, with declarations to be made tomorrow.

Out of top racemare Quevega, the six-year-old won the 2022 Cheltenham Bumper before finishing second in the Supreme Novices Hurdle at that venue last March and in November won impressively on chase debut at Navan.

Facile Vega will bid for a fourth top-level success in St Stephen's Day's 2m1f race and his trainer Willie Mullins reports “the horse (Sa Fureur) that fell in that Navan race - which looked like he was going to be placed behind him, won the other day so the form of race is getting better all the time.

“He likes Leopardstown, has won there a couple of times so horses-for-courses and he is one to follow, I hope.

“He has a wonderful big stride, has great scope for jumping and a bit like his mother Quevega, seems to have natural talent which hopefully brings him the whole way.”
