Julies Stowaway was tough at the finish of the two mile six handicap hurdle in Ballinrobe for trainer Mags Mullins.
He brought up a double for jockey Danny Mullins who took the opener on 1/3 favourite Royal Rendezvous
The top weight went on with bottom-weight Oneknightmoreihope on the run-in and he was ridden by Mullins with over a furlong to travel.
The seven-year-old gelding found most to come in by a length and three parts at 18/5.
Oneknightmoreihope was an easy to back 7/2 favourite and had to settle for the runner-up prize. It Could Be You (5/1) was left by the front pair touching down after the last but stayed on again in third.
Jockey Mullins said: “He was probably a lad we thought would be on grass at this point but he’s won on good ground and the fact that the rain fell we decided to keep in and have a go here and it’s paid off.
“He’s tough and his winter form is good so you’d be hoping for performances like that.
“It’s great to have him doing it for the O’Callaghans — they’re great owners."
When asked if he’d stay going further into the summer, the in-form rider replied: “You never know.”
