Willie and Patrick Mullins completed a short price double at Thurles when point-to-point graduate Pylonthepressure took the closing Curaheen (Pro/Am) Flat Race with consummate ease.
Earlier on the mark with Lyrical Theatre Pylonthepressure was expected to make it two for Closutton, going off a 2/5 chance, with the form of his 'point' win, for Donnchadh Doyle, standing up to close scrutiny.
At Laurencetown in May Pylonthepressure beat Cracked Rear View in style. That one won a bumper after and he is now a well-regarded Donald McCain inmate.
The victorious Darsi gelding then sold to Mrs Susannah Ricci for £110,000, and here he didn't need to be asked to do anything too taxing by Patrick Mullins, up the straight, to see off the market-springer, the long absent Samson Bill by six and a half lengths.
"He is a fine, big chasing stamp of a horse and acted well on that ground," said Willie Mullins.
"He'll have one more run and if he repeats that performance, will go to Cheltenham for the Bumper. I think he'll go on much faster ground too." (TW & EM)
