Rory Mulligan gave Pandion Power a well judged front-running ride to bag a follow-up win in the second division of the 47-65 handicap at Gowran Park.
The Johnny Murtagh-trained gelding was a game winner at Roscommon a week ago and went to post 4/1 joint-favourite to score again.
Mulligan forced the pace and his mount had a few lengths on his rivals at halfway. He had a willing partner in the straight as the Footstepsinthesand gelding stuck on well. Pink Socks finished off well but could only get within two-and-a-quarter lengths at the line.
Murtagh said:- “On fast ground he goes that pace and they can quicken by him but on that ground he can still go the same pace. He has a big engine and a big stride, and Rory rides him out very day.
“He’s not an easy ride but he’s reaping the benefits from him now.
“I thought at the top of the hill you’d better give him a breather now, but he said when the horse sensed them coming he maintained it right to the line.”
