Much to look forward to with Venture Capital Venture Capital became the fifth winning favourite on the card (the other two winners Bog Warrior and Voler La Vedette were second market choice) when the well-touted newcomer showed himself to be an exciting prospect in taking the concluding O'Doherty's Audio & Video (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Fairyhouse. Richie Kiely did the steering on Philip Fenton's Presenting gelding, backed from as big as 11/2 in a place this morning into 9/4. He was keen enough near the pace but he had plenty left when required. Many lined up to challenge in the final quarter mile but Venture Capital showed his quality to move through the gears in the smartest fashion, beating the fellow Presenting newcomer Bright New Dawn by three lengths. Fenton said: "That was nice. He's looked like a nice horse from a while back. "We didn't want it turning into a sprint with so many newcomers in it so Richie dictated it from over a mile out. That was just the way the race panned out. "Better ground should suit and he stays and he jumps well. "He has a hunter cert and was on the verge of going point-to-pointing. "He came here because the evidence at home suggested he was quite good. "He is only four so it's a bit early to be going jumping. "I'd say he won't run for a while now. I doubt if he'll run at Christmas." (GC & EM)
