James Motherway was back in the winners' enclosure for the first time since the Irish National success of Bluesea Cracker when Chairmanforlife took the last at Thurles today.
Mark Walsh produced the Bob Back gelding with a well-timed run to lead before the last.
He was joined by 5/2 favourite Arguidos and the pair looked set to fight it out until that rival crashed out at the final flight.
Chairmanforlife was left to come home six-lengths clear of 20/1 shot Fairhaven
"He's been a while paying us back but at least he got there in the end and he's a great old warrior," said Motherway of the winner.
"He had a good run in Gowran but Mark said he was no help to him that day and was on and off the bridle.
"We popped the shades on today and he was a different horse. We've found the key to him at last."
It was the trainer's first winner under rules since Bluesea Cracker's famous success at Fairyhouse back in April.
"It's nice to get one eventually plus I own him myself so it's a few quid in the pocket!"
