Sanibel Island bridged a gap of five years and a half years between wins at Killarney on Sunday and today followed up with another, in Downpatrick's concluding Downpatrick End Of Season Handicap Chase.
Ridden by Darragh O'Keeffe, the ten year old was all out to score by a nose from Walking The Walk to provide the trainer with a fourth win from eight runners, in a fortnight.
Beef Or Salmon's trainer today said "he was tough and Darragh was very good on him. It was hard to know if he was up and I was depending on the call.”
He added "I'm training since 1973 and it took me six years to train a winner. My enthusiasm is just like Mark Prescott's! If you have the horses you have a chance, if you haven't you have no chance.”
"I just love what I do.”
Sanibel Island's other three wins were when in the care of Gordon Elliott in the 2016/17 season and joined trainer Hourigan this summer.
