Newtown Anner Stud Farm, on the mark yesterday with Dark Crusader, saw their silks carried to success again at Galway today when Sister Slew landed the Caulfieldindustrial.com European Breeders Fund Maiden under Gary Carroll.
Carroll himself, narrowly denied on Monday on Lady Giselle (then disqualified for weighing in light) got Sister Slew home by a nose from Tax Reform as the market leaders disappointed.
The Ballylinch Stud owned pair, Fulminata (6s into 7/2) only beat one home, that one being her Dermot Weld-trained rival, in the same colours, Pirate Cove (9/10 fav) who finished last.
Joe Murphy trains Sister Slew and he commented: "She's a game filly and she had the experience.
"I'm delighted for Maurice Regan (Newtown Anner Stud Farm) and we put the draw she had in one to advantage (she made all)."
Carroll said: "I was very unsure as to whether I'd won or not. Myself and Chris (Hayes on runner-up Tax Reform) both congratulated each other past the line.
"I actually bought this one as a yearling and sold her to Joe on the condition that I'd keep the ride." (TW & EM)
