Listowel racegoers got to witness Ryan Moore at his brilliant best as the former British Champion Jockey lifted Medici Venus home to land a rather unlikely win in the MAC Hardware & Farm Supplies Irish EBF Rated Race.

Well away from stalls, the Aidan O'Brien trained filly disputed in the initial stages, before settling second behind The Marty Party after the opening furlong.

Coming under pressure early in the straight, the 15/8 chance dropped back to third, as Ronan Whelan arrived with what looked like a winning challenge aboard Sir Jeremy

However, as The Marty Party rallied under Wayne Hassett, Sir Jeremy had no more to give. Moore then showed just why he is regarded as one of the best riders in the world, lifting Medici Venus home from what looked an impossible position to get up to win by a short head.

Ryan Moore said: "She is still learning and is obviously improving as I thought she had a lot on at the weights. She is still plenty green and isn't quite sure what to do with herself."
