Monksland impresses in Down Royal finale He ran out at the last in a Ballysteen point-to-point when with Andy Slattery but Monksland (5/4 this morning into 4/5) didn't disappoint on his racecourse bow in the Mirror (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Down Royal under Nina Carberry. The victorious Beneficial gelding went on from over a quarter of a mile out on the way to an eleven length dismissal of Big Generator. Noel Meade trains Monksland for Mrs Patricia Hunt. Nina Carberry said: "He's worked very well at home and he was very impressive there. "We were a bit worried that he wouldn't settle today but I was always happy in the race and he did it like a good horse." (EM & MG)
