Mister Carter entered previously in a Grade 3 before that contest was abandoned, justified the regard of his connections when landing the Emmet Leahy Millstream Memorial 3-y-o Maiden Hurdle at Limerick under Billy Lee.
The 9/2 chance had the race won when giving his supporters a scare with a mistake at the last but he quickly overcame that to go on and beat Tillahow by two and a half lengths.
Winning trainer Tommy Stack said: "He was idling when he got to the front and Billy said they were only racing over the last two hurdles. He was a bit long at the last but anyway he didn't fall and there'll be another day for him.
"We're lucky to be racing after the dreadful weather and they've done a good job here. It's a pity the owner (David Slater) who is from Newcastle in England couldn't be here. With the uncertainty over racing he didn't come."
